About Seafloor

Seafloor Systems was formed in 1999 by veteran naval hydrographer John Tamplin in Portland, Oregon to provide hydrographic survey equipment and consulting to survey companies in the Pacific Northwest. Specializing in geophysical survey equipment, Seafloor has built the largest multibeam echosounder rental pool in the US, including ancillary sensors and systems as well as Technical Services.

Sales, Support, Services

Our personnel are available to provide installation, operation and data processing assistance. Our personnel come from some of the top hydrographic training institutions in North America (University of New Brunswick, Cal State Monterey Bay, NOAA, and the University of Oregon). Combined, we have completed more than one million line-miles of multibeam survey.

Turnkey Multibeam Solutions

Seafloor Systems, Inc provides turnkey multibeam systems for shallow to medium-water depths (1-3000m). Check out our list of available systems. In addition to sonars, we can provide a range of ancillary sensors such as motion and attitude sensors, sound velocity profilers, and tide gauges. We have sensors from many well know manufacturers such as Applanix, Coda Optopus, Teledyne Marine, Trimble, Valeport, and Ohmex. We are also the only equipment provider on the East or West Coast with a Reson 8160 50-kHz multibeam echosounder, capable of mapping the seafloor down to 3,000 meters.

For data acquisition and processing, we have software systems from Triton Imaging, Hypack, Chesapeake Technology, and Caris. Our data processors can process data from multibeam echosounders, side scan sonars, magnetometers, and subbottom profilers acquired in most common formats such as XTF, Q-MIPS, .ALL, .HSX, SEG-Y and many more.

Rental Equipment

We maintain a full range of rental equipment from many manufacturers so that we can provide our clients with a package that is familiar and meets their individual needs.
